Never mind TBT, this is TPT!

Never mind Throw Back Thursdays on Facebook, this is Trash Pick Thursday! Am I crazy? Tell me, am I? I can take it. Am I crazy for trash picking this absolutely adorable vintage, handmade playhouse? I had to interrupt my regularly scheduled post just to show you this today.

Tiger (boxer #2) and I were walking this morning and passed by a house that was throwing it away. As we drew closer, my heart started pounding as it usually does when I spy some cool trash. The elderly owners just moved, so I’ve been keeping my eye on this place. So far, they’ve had a lot of actual trash that came out last week after their estate sale, but nothing really usable yet…until today.

Now regarding my trash picking habits, let me get a few things straight. I don’t actually go through people’s cans, no, that’s eeeeewwwww. And also, I am aware that some things are just not salvageable, like dirty carpets, stained beds…again, eeewwww. I’m just not into that kind of stuff and my husband would freak if I started bringing every single thing home. But, I am looking for “treasures” like this doll house. I get infuriated at the neighboring (and wealthy, I might add) town which does not allow for trash picking and today, I saw some amazing and old, 6 pane windows going out….gggggrrrrrr! Imagine those beautiful windows sitting in a dump somewhere rotting instead of being reused on an historical home remodel or a backyard greenhouse. Ugh! But, I do what I can in my own little neighborhood and get lucky from time to time. New Jersey isn’t like a lot of places that I’ve lived before where you can’t even throw anything out unless it fits in your can. Personally, I think that is a great idea since it encourages people to donate items instead of just turning them out to the curb for the trash truck to pick up. However, I’m reaping the benefits right now while south Jersey rethinks its out-of-date, solid waste disposal habits.

So, back to my little gem. It looks like it used to have working lights and check out the vintage Disney wallpaper in one of the rooms! Also, I am in love with the fully functional garage door that goes up and down!!! So, what do you think I should do? Should I clean it up and try to find a person who wants it or…should I do a DIY bird house? I was thinking this place would be like a bird palace, but I hate the idea of them messing up the fine details….but still, it would be a cute addition to my bird friendly back yard…help.
